Love Your Progress-Crossfit Chick Rules


7 TIPS ON BEING THE BAD ASS KITTY YOU ARE IN THE BOX:

1. Go hard in each wod and don't "save your energy" for the next rep. You will always be out of breath and it will always be painful--but you love it."

2. Don't be afraid to fail over and over again. You will never get better if you don't push yourself to your limit and that requires landing on the ground..on your ass...questioning yourself why you are doing this.

3. Eat healthy after you train. Don't waste your time getting your sweat on if you're going to "reward" yourself with a greasy meal right after. "Man, that wod was tough." "Mmm..this burger tastes so good" "FAIL."

4. Have fun because no one likes a bitchy Crossfitter. If you're going to get angry, take it out on the WOD. 

5. Love your progress and believe in your strength and training. If that bar looks heavy just breathe deep, growl and pick it up! Yes, I said growl. Aggressive gals get shit done and if you're not afraid of the bar, you're not even close to making the bar afraid of you (Camille Leblanc said something similar two years ago in an interview and it stuck with me ever since.)

6. Rest days are just as important as training days. You need to recover even if you don't want to. Being addicted to the WOD is not always a good thing so know your limits, take a break and watch some T.V.

7. Quit staring at the mirror and pick that shit up. Oh wait, there's no mirrors in Crossfit---another reason why you love it.

LIFT BIG, STAY SMALL

It's been almost 4 weeks after doing a bikini competition and I feel great. I am lifting heavy, doing wods and still working on gymnastic skills! 
I need to step my squat game back up but other than that I am happy with my training. I squatted 90k for 4 singles yesterday which is great but I used to do that for 3 sets of 4 in August! DAMN IT!!!!....Must keep training.
I competed at 119lbs and I'm currently only 122lbs. I don't mind because I still feel strong and I like how my clothes fit:) I cleaned 74k a week after the bikini competition which was a huge pr and I can't wait to try it again soon! 
I have been eating pretty clean since my competition because I keep hearing about people rebound after competitions and I don' have time for that! I want to get stronger and stay lean so that I can still rock a little dress and pick up 300lbs.

CROSSFIT GIRL BIKINI SHOW RESULTS

The bikini show is over and I am doing crossfit wods again after 4 weeks of getting a "pump". lol I placed 5th and qualified for the Toronto Pro Supershow in June 2014. I love how I looked and what I represented on the stage: a fit, strong, healthy and lean body.

The last 2 weeks before my show were the toughest because I couldn't have any chocolate at all. I can't complain too much because there are many women who train months before a show and destroy their personal lives. I only had to prep for a few weeks because I train regularly and usually eat pretty healthy. Two weeks prior to the show is when I ate super clean and probably not enough because I wanted to be very lean. I am normally 125lbs and I dropped down to 119lbs for the show(dehydrated).   I felt super skinny but going into the show there were girls way tinier than me which was insane. I thought, " If I feel borderline "gross" skinny, I wonder how they feel?".  Anyway, being a Crossfitter, I didn't want to lose too much strength for this competition so I still focused on oly lifts, muscle ups, squats and deadlifts. I added a lot of bodybuilding movements and focused on certain muscle groups.

 Now that this competition is over, I can focus on hitting some PR's and getting stronger!

CROSSFIT GIRL DOES A BIKINI COMPETITION

I have decided to do a Bikini Competition even though I do Crossfit. Why?

Because I want to show girls that you can strut around in a bikini with muscles and look sexy!  Doing Crossfit has made me want to do a Bikini competition because it gave me muscles I didn't know I had! Personally, I think bikini competitions need to have more muscular women. I'm not saying they need to have girls with bulging biceps and lats, but ribs and fake boobs just don't cut it for me. It's too easy to starve yourself. I want to see a girl that looks like she worked hard for that body on stage! Bikini competitions need to have more healthy examples of fitness girls and crossfit girls are the bomb! They throw heavy shit around and have some of the nicest bums I've seen! 

Lets face it, this competition isn't about who has the heaviest deadlift (mine is 308lbs, btw...:) HA!) It's about who has the sexiest, fittest body ACCORDING TO THE JUDGES. I am pretty confident in what I think is sexy and fit so if I don't do well then the judges clearly don't like crossfitters :P haha!  I could do really well or I could do really poorly but if I truly feel like I look my best and that I didn't cheat or get lazy with my training, I am happy. 

I haven't been doing a lot of Crossfit in the last 4 weeks. I still work on my cleans and snatch but I haven't done a met con workout in 3 weeks and I am 2 weeks out from this competition. My diet has been more strict and a fast Fran time is not the focus these days. I focus a lot on getting a "pump" and making my muscles show. Sounds ridiculous but this is what I signed up for. 

Nonetheless, I am super excited for the show and can't wait to play a character on that stage! Most people are telling me to "be myself" up there and I will to a degree...I will mostly be a little vixen that just got unleashed into the jungle if I want to stand out like a sore thumb and have a little fun!

TOES TO BAR


IRON KITTY: OPEN 2013


The OPEN is CLOSED! I am really excited to start training heavy, hard and fast again without having to worry about the next wod! I am satisfied with my performance in the Open this year especially since it was my first one. I’m OK with being #258 in Canada East. The last wod really saved my ass. I redid it twice within 15min of each other and my 2nd performance was way better than the first time. Out of all the wods, I felt really great for the final one and I’ve never felt hungrier!!! It was truly a mind game and I fought the urge to drop the bar everytime.  I wanted to get it all over with and by the time I realized how tired I was, the wod was over!
Open 2013 was filled with Pr’s, failures and wake-up calls for me. I’ve always known that I need to work on double-unders, snatches, toes to bar, box jumps, and muscle-ups…OK FINE. EVERYTHING. I NEED TO WORK ON EVERYTHING. LOL But these wods really shook me up and make me want to do better. Not for next year but for next week. I must train like I’m in a competition for every wod in order to reach my goals. Writing down my scores and Pr’s is always helpful because I can look back and try to smoke my old time/PR’s.

I need to be more ballsy and drop under it more. My best snatch is 44k and I power it. Technique is so important in the snatch and I need to master it! Anyhow, thought I'd share her video:)

Iron Kitty Crossfit Rules

IRON KITTY CROSSFIT RULES 

1. Surpass your goals. One muscle up is nice but 3 or 4 in a row is way more impressive. Always surprise yourself with what you can do*

2. Cake? What cake? Ditch you're deadly cravings!! Crossfit+Bikini= NO CAKE. HA! OK MAYBE A SLICE BUT NOT A WHOLE ONE. 

3. Make your weaknesses your b/tch***PRACTICE. No one ever got better at something by just watching instructional videos. Put in WORK.

4. Don't get lazy with technique. I'll never clean 80k with a round back and starting now will only develop bad habits...and break my back.

5. Train for the Games...What? I'm allowed to think BIG. In fact, everyone should. Success never came to those who didn't believe in themselves.

6. Don't get discouraged too easily. You won't PR everyday. Some days are better than others and failure is common. Just be patient and remember that it's fun and you'll drop the sassy attitude.

7. Rest days are important! Take a day off, it won't kill you. 

8. PROTEIN. Food is important and a sloppy diet will negatively effect your training. Don't waste your time in the box if you're going to "reward" yourself with carbs and treats!

9. If you're failing at something and want to quit, look at #3 and shut up.

10. You are your own competition. Who am I kidding! Battles are fun just don't get too carried away.
